Extending their association with Paul Smith which stretches up to more than a decade, Manchester United have launched a new capsule collection with the British designer, which includes graphic accessories like mobile cases, bags, wallets, cardholders and laptop sleeves. The club has dedicated this rosettes-design series to the heritage of the football club.
Manchester United and Paul Smith have been working together for more than a decade now. Back during the 2008 Champions League final, the squad wore the designer’s suits in Moscow, while their latest appearance – with Paul Smith – came in the 2017 Europa League and the 2018 FA Cup.
As far as fashion is concerned, they have also collaborated in launching woollen scarfs, socks, cufflink designs and a tie which features the club’s crest.
The likes of Paul Pogba, David de Gea, Anthony Martial and summer signing Diogo Dalot starred in launching the campaign. While de Gea and Dalot were majorly used for the accessories, the likes of Pogba and Martial modelled for the fashion range.
Pogba was photographed wearing the scarf, which has red, white and black stripes, while Martial donned the cufflinks. David de Gea, on the other hand, was seen holding the laptop bag which has United crest all over, just like the wallet.
Safe to say despite their recent struggles on the field, Manchester United have managed to remain arguably the most commercially profitable club. And back in February 2018, former manager Louis van Gaal gave a perfect assessment by saying,
“Manchester United, who I last coached, are a commercial club, quite different to Bayern.
“The bosses are [Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge and [Uli] Hoeness – former players who know what they’re talking about. For them, football is the most important thing, not money, as at United.”
