And yes, Marouane Fellaini has once again managed to grab everyone’s eyeball and his teammates are in absolute disbelief. And no, he hasn’t punched or elbowed anybody. HE HAS GOT RID OF HIS AFRO! Yes, you heard it right; Marouane Fellaini has decided to celebrate his 31st birthday by shaving off his ‘everyone’s favourite’ Afro.
Well, his birthday is still a week away, but he somehow decided to get “New year, new look #birthdaytomorrow” and gave this incursion to his fans through Instagram.
Fellaini has majorly been recognized for his curls since his arrival in Merseyside – after allegedly refusing offers from Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Tottenham and Aston Villa – a decade back.
He did have short hair during the early part of his career, but that was some ages ago really. And Fellaini’s antics have now caused a major stir in social media and as some are loving it, a majority of his followers – including his teammates – are having nightmares.
The first one to react was his Belgium teammate Dries Mertens, who wrote; “Noooooooooooooooo.” Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly expressed a similar discontent. Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, on the other hand, could not believe what he saw and said, “It’s photoshopped, it can’t be true!”
His former teammate Steven Pienaar shed tears, while striker Victor Anichebe adviced him of getting ‘at least a proper shape up.’ Meanwhile, his Belgium teammate Axel Witsel took this opportunity perfectly and quoted, “There’s only one Belgian Afro left.” David de Gea, on his part, tweeted:
