You can basically taste the excitement as Game of Thrones returns for its last season. Perhaps the best-kept secret and anticipated show in the history of television, Game of Thrones has amassed a fan-following that includes people from all walks of life. From athletes to Hollywood stars to politicians and socialites, everyone is eagerly waiting for the final season which comes with the promise of “fans will need therapy”.
Here are 6 international athletes who have showcased their love for Game of Thrones in the past:
The American baseball right-fielder for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball is known for his love for Game of Thrones (kind of reminds you of Tormund too). Back in 2017 when Hunter was playing for the San Francisco Giants, the team held a special Game of Thrones night where Hunter and wife Alexis got creative and decided to dress up like their favourite characters. Hunter is often seen posting pictures or videos of himself, either dancing to the title track or posing with the Iron Throne.

Most of us have experienced the ultimate fan moment when we meet our icon. But it’s difficult to believe when a global icon lives that moment when he/she meets his/her idol. When the former English footballer met John Bradley (Samwell Tarly in GoT), he was too star-struck to even ask what happens ahead! Although a major GoT fan, Beckham has faced backlash in the past for leaking season 7 spoilers. He posted snapshots on his Instagram account, GoT fans took to Twitter to express their outrage against the football star. So if David Beckham wishes to hang on to his 55 million followers, he better not leak any season 8 spoilers!
Super Bowl champion, two-time NFL MVP and one of the fittest athletes in the world, Aaron Rodgers is just like everyone else – he loves Game of Thrones. He is a huge Jon Snow fan and has his theory about Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister being related to each other (!!!).
Time for the Season 1 play by play with Lord @AaronRodgers12 of Greenwater Bay.

Kim Conley is an American track and field athlete who has expressed her excitement for Game of Thrones in the past. When season 7 was about to release, she had tweeted “Finally it’s July 16th! #WinterIsHere #GameOfThrones”

Channing Frye of the Cleveland Cavaliers is known in his team and his fans for being a hardcore Game of Thrones fan. He has also taken to Twitter a couple of times in the past to express his awe over the show and its a certain episode. In an interview with GQ in 2016, the GoT geeks of Cleveland Cavaliers – Channing Frye and Kevin Love – talked about keeping up with the show and avoiding spoilers at all costs in case they were busy with a match or training while an episode was on! In fact, Frye has been known to even host screenings of episodes at his home theatre!
Game of thrones just got a standing ovation in my house! I could've never thought of some of these plot twists… My mind is blown
