Eric Bailly, the 22-year-old defender is set to join Manchester United as Mourinho’s first official signing. Reports suggest that he is due to have a medical this week and if all goes well, United are going to be fortified defensively for a pricy sum of £30m.
The Ivory Coast starlet had joined Villareal in January, 2015 for a modest price of £4.4m and has made every team sheet. He later won the African Cup of Nations that year. The youngster is talented in the air and provides a strong physical presence which can be a real asset for the new United boss. Being a young defender, he has not attained the composure and the complete mental prowess needed to shoulder absolute responsibilities at United. Nonetheless, his talent and skill can be moulded by the ‘Special One’ at Old Trafford.
In the other side of Manchester things are going well for the Citizens as Manchester City have completed the signing of Germany international Ilkay Gundogan. Pep Guardiola’s side are now looking to seal the deal on Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has been in inspired form all season. The Gabon international already dropped out of his National side’s friendly matches sighting an imminent transfer as the reason.
Borussia Dortmund, are over whelmed by the interest in Aubameyang from clubs in Europe, and therefore are sticking to the price tag of €75 million. At £58.5 million, the sum would be identical to the £54m plus £5m in add-ons City paid Bundesliga outfit, Wolfsburg for Kevin De Bruyne.
Everton sign Ronald Koeman as new manager from Southampton for a £5m compensation payment as the 53-year-old manager leaves before his contract runs out. The Toffees replaced Roberto Martinez who failed to achieve Champions League qualification for the third time since joining the club. Koeman managed the Siants for two years and finished 6th this season as opposed to Martinez’s men who came in 11th.
The Dutch manager is set to arrive at Goodison Park with brother Erwin Koeman and fitness coach Jan Kluitenberg as his staff. He has managed Vitesse Arnhem, Ajax, Benfica, PSV, Valencia, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord and Southampton. His new challenge at Everton will begin alongside new owners that are looking to splash some cash to make waves in the title race.
