If playing football is an art, then Lionel Messi is the Picasso of it. Well, that’s not just us, but the entire world is saying. Considered as one of the finest footballers the world has ever witnessed, Barcelona legend Lionel Messi is all set to have his life portrayed on the big stage.
Canadian entertainment company Cirque du Soleil, who are the largest theatrical producer in the world, have announced they are working on a new show – set to be released in 2019 – which will be based on this footballing legend’s life. The exact dates haven’t been made official but The Mirror quotes the show will be produced in the synchronicity with PopArt Music and Sony Music.
Cirque du Soleil have time and again made wonders, having produced shows on the music artistes like the Beatles and Michael Jackson. And for the Messi show, a special tent of huge dimensions is being created. Making the official announcement, an official statement from the Canadian company read;
“We are thrilled to be working with such a living legend. As a world leader of live entertainment, Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is becoming the go-to creator of original content and experiences for the world’s top brands,” says Jonathan Tétrault, President and Chief Operating Officer at Cirque du Soleil.
“We are convinced that bringing Messi’s legacy to life on stage will touch audiences and speak to all football fans. Together with PopArt Music and Sony Music, we have the chance to transcend the sport and present it in a totally new form to inspire the world.”
“I am sure that this show will break all records, in the same way that Messi does in football,” said Sergio Lavié, co-founder at PopArt Music.
