Paul Pogba is all set to undergo a medical ahead of completing a world-record move to Manchester United, as confirmed by the club. The ex-Juventus midfielder has been given the nod by Juventus to seal a £92 million transfer after four years of dedicated service since he moved from United itself. The previous record of most expensive signing was of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspurs by Real Madrid at £86 million.
Pogba made seven appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving for Turin and is now poised to become Jose Mourinho’s fourth and final summer signing after Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. What Pogba can bring to the club is strength in possession, attacking mindedness and brilliant darting advances that often unlocks defences. He can be the “new Scholes” in the words of Jose Mourinho.
“We brought Micki [Mkhitaryan] here, we know the quality he has,” said the Portuguese boss. “We got a super striker [Ibrahimovic] and we are going to get a very good midfield player, so I am happy with the balance of my squad. I’m happy with the effort that the club has, and is still putting in for us.”
