This is one story which should be given quite a bit of importance, as it could have an impact on the future of European football. It seems that representatives of La Liga giants Barcelona were at the game between Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg, which ended in a 2-2 draw, as the Catalan outfit is hoping to sign three high-quality young stars (from the former club), who may have a really bright future ahead of them.
The club’s technical secretary Robert Fernandez, along with assistant Urbano Ortega were spotted at the game being played out at BayArena on Sunday, as they were keeping tabs on how the players were performing. Further, Catalan publication Sport has confirmed that the duo were present at the game to keep tabs on centre-back Jonathan Tah, along with a couple of wingers, Julian Brandt and Leon Bailey.
This is not the first time that 21-year-old Brandt has been under the radar of the club from Spain, who have been monitoring his progress for quite some time, with the hopes of adding him to their squad. Bailey, on the other handm has also attracted attention from a host of top clubs including the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, Hull City and Bournemouth from England, with Serie A giants AS Roma also said to be interested in his services.
Barca are under a new manager now, with Ernesto Valverde taking over at the start of the campaign and they are currently leading the La Liga table, four points ahead of second place Valencia. With the club looking to add more quality at the back and to their front-line, what better way of doing so than adding some youngsters to their squad.
It will be tough to sign all three players, with the kind of attention that they are getting from various other top clubs, yet, if Barcelona can make an early offer, they might have the advantage and can push through a deal for all of their targets. Hopefully, Leverkusen do oblige as well, as no club want to lose three of their prized possessions all at once, which would weaken them substantially as well.
