Former PSV winger Memphis Depay spent one unadorned tenure with Manchester United and despite all those hardships, it seems he still has a place in his heart for the Red Devils. Following Lyon’s sumptuous 4-2 win over Guingamp on Saturday, the 24-year-old took to Instagram to show his love for the red shirt and wrote ‘Woke up feeling like Beckham!’
Depay was seen wearing that classic Manchester United shirt with Beckham’s name on the back.
Why Beckham you ask? Well, in case you aren’t aware Memphis scored a brace over the weekend, which includes a fantastic strike from the edge of the area followed by a breathtaking freekick from around 35-yards out. Lyon had a poor start to the game as they went a goal down in as early as the 21st minute.

A goal from Aouar followed by a brace from Depay, however, gave Lyon a much-deserved advantage as they cruised past their opponent with a 4-2 win. For Depay, he reached a personal milestone as he is now involved in 28 goals in Ligue 1 in 2018 (16 goals, 12 assists), which is more than any other player.
Depay joined Manchester United back in 2015 following a spectacular four-year tenure with PSV, but failed to emulate his form at Manchester United. In his 18 months with the club, he could only manage seven goals and failed to do the justice with the iconic number 7 shirt he was given at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Depay returned to Manchester back in September for a Champions League fixture against City. And a 2-1 win over his previous nemesis resulted in him posting another message for United supporters. Taking to Instagram, the 24-year-old wrote, “What a great result and team performance last night!
@ChampionsLeague we love you!
