Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has turned his attention towards signing Chelsea target Alex Sandro now, as the Red Devils try to finally fix their problems at the back. The Premier League giants have been trying to sort their defensive problems for quite some time, though they have failed to get a steady left-back thus far, with the Portuguese manager now looking to add the Juventus star to his squad.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss is keen on adding more defensive stars to his squad for his title ambitions and will want to secure the services of the Brazilian international. Since his departure from Porto back in 2015, Sandro has become one of the best left-backs in the world of football and is now wanted by the Red Devils’ boss amid interest shown from the west London outfit as well.
Both the English giants are keen on adding him to their squad in the upcoming transfer window, with the level of his performances really going up in recent times and might make offers once again. With the west London outfit failing to add him to their squad in the summer transfer window, it seems that their fierce rivals are now leading the charge to get a deal done for themselves.
Mourinho has been clear about the need of having more players at the back and is ready to offload some of his current stars, with the constant rumours of Danny Rose being linked with a move to Old Trafford as well. This means that the club from Manchester is really ready to spend big on getting in some more top stars like Sandro, who has made it clear that he wants to leave Turin. On the other hand, Juve are willing to let any player who does not wish to play for them go and with their chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, stating the same.
“We have said many times that when a player asks to be sold, regardless of prestige or importance within the team, we are in favour of a sale,” he told Mediaset Premium, as reported by Football Italia. “When a player is unsatisfied, it is better to let him go.”
With that said and done, the Daily Record has now suggested that Mourinho has already been handed a budget of £80m with the transfer window all set to reopen in the new year. He might go ahead and decide to spend money on a player like Sandro and if United go hunting with a huge offer, things could get quite interesting for them and Chelsea, as the two clubs might engage in a transfer battle for his signature.
