Things are going from bad to worse for Manchester United. It seems that forward Anthony Martial is now stalling talks of a new contract, with interest for his services from Tottenham and Inter Milan doing rounds, who will look to sign the France international in the upcoming transfer windows. These top European clubs want to add Martial to their squad, who is not getting game time at Old Trafford and will be in the final year of his contract, by the end of the current term.
Though Jose Mourinho’s side does have a clause of extending it for yet another year, they will also be aware of the interest by these rivals European clubs and are trying their best to fend off their attention. French broadcaster RMC Sport spoke about the player’s future at The Theatre of Dreams, with talks that started off in December about a contract renewal being stalled thus far, which could mean that the attacker might have other plans for the future.
They further added how he is a wanted man amongst some of the clubs across the continent, who will try to make bids for his services in the days to come. The high-quality player has 37 appearances to his name in all competitions in the present campaign, scoring 11 times and assisting nine other goals, which looks like a good number so far.
His tally is already better than what it was in the previous campaign of eight goals and he had as many assists to his name in 42 games as well, which is a major improvement now and United might not want to let him go. Though the player at present is above England international Marcus Rashford in the pecking order, Alexis Sanchez’s arrival at the club has not really helped his clause and he is once again trying his best to hold on to a spot in the playing eleven.
There is an intense battle going on for places at the moment, due to which the Frenchman does not seem really happy and might eventually leave the club if the offer is right. Though money might not be the real factor to draw him away, if he is not given an assurance by the Portuguese manager about his future, things can get really interesting in this transfer saga, with both Spurs and Inter looking to pounce on the opportunity to sign him.
