Football maverick Mario Balotelli has again made the headlines, this time, celebrating live on Instagram after scoring a goal for his new club, French giants Olympique Marseille.
The Italian striker’s talent and goalscoring instincts have never been in question, but more often than not, he has made the front pages of the tabloids for all the wrong reasons.
The former Manchester City, Inter Milan and AC Milan striker has had a troubled past with the media but has matured a lot in the past couple of years, crediting it, to becoming a father.
Having recently moved to Marseille from OGC Nice, Balotelli decided that it was more than time, to make the news again, with his audacious celebrations live on Instagram. The striker scored a sensational overhead kick against St. Etienne in the French Ligue 1, giving his side the lead. Marseille eventually ended up winning the match 2-0.
But it was Balotelli’s celebration that made all the headlines as he picked up a mobile phone, logged on to his Instagram account, started a live video and celebrated the goal with his teammates for millions for his followers to see on the social media platform.

This is not the first time when Balotelli has made the headlines after scoring a goal. When he was playing for Manchester City in the Premier League, he once lifted his shirt up after scoring against Manchester United to reveal a message in his inners which read, “Why Always Me?”. This was a message to his critics in the media for always making him the centre of attraction, despite his repeated pleas for privacy. The celebration has become one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history.
This celebration is sure to make the list as well, among the most iconic moments in modern football. What else do you expect from a man who once set fireworks inside his own bathroom?
