Lionel Messi fans are set to get a surprise of their lives as their hero might stage a return to Argentina, making a U-turn on retirement decision, if reports are to be believed.
Metro.com, a UK based website reported that the Argentine may begin to play again under the new coach Edgardo Bauza.
The 29-year-old called time on his international career after Argentina’s sorry defeat to Chile in the final of this year’s Copa America.
The reports state that Bauza travelled to Barcelona to persuade Messi to return to international football and that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is now set to be named in Argentina’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Bauza who is upbeat about the star footballer’s return, said , “I see him with a lot of enthusiasm, but I don’t want to go further. This Friday I will talk with him by telephone to finish confirming the list. I have no doubt that Messi has the desire to return, but we will wait and see.”
