Ahead of the much-awaited Superclásico against Boca Juniors, a couple from Argentina decided to name their newborn son River Plate’.
The first leg of the Copa Libertadores final was to take place on Saturday but was postponed due to heavy rain, which eventually made the venue – Boca’s La Bombonera stadium – next to unplayable. The game has been rescheduled to Sunday.
Back on October 16 in Pinama (a town in the Buenos Aires), Ana Sofía Plate and Nahuel Eduardo Bejerano welcomed their son and their initial plan was to name him Enzo; after former Uruguay and River Plate star Enzo Francescoli. However, after a brief discussion between the couple, it was agreed that the boy would be named ‘River Plate’ with his full name being, Agustin Enzo River Plate Bejerano.
To make things in order, the couple decided to add the mother’s surname ahead of the boy’s father.
“I asked my wife if she would give me the possibility to call him River and as her surname is Plate, everything would match. She said yes and that we would see later on. As time went by, that idea was asserted.
“It’s an idea that I always had, at the beginning I was going to call him Enzo because of ‘The Prince’, which is the maximum idol that I have, but it occurred to me to ask my lady if she gave me the chance to put her in River because the surname of she is Plate and everything agreed, “Nahuel told Cadena 3 .
“She said yes and then with the passing of time the idea was affirmed.”
