Being famous generally equates with your possessions being famous as well. They basically become a collector’s item. Certain things that hold value or significance are auctioned off and the proceeds go towards a good cause, such as a charity or hospital.
The most recent item to be auctioned belonged to footballer Paul Pogba. The Manchester United midfielder’s shoes were sold for €30,000 at Christie’s Auction House in Paris. Pogba had worn these shoes during the football World Cup finals last year. In the nail-biting match between France and Croatia, Pogba scored the third goal which helped France win the cup with a score of 4-2.
The shoes were donated to a French Charity that helps high school students from tough or downtrodden areas of France. Pogba too has grown up in a deprived area of the Paris suburbs.
In the past, Pogba has donated a few other items as well. He donated his France shirt that he wore during the team’s victory over Iceland in the Euros 2016. The shirt was sold for €4,000.
But it is not always a happy ending for the items that he has donated to charity. The sales tend to depend on his performances during matches, which fluctuates quite a bit. There was his Manchester United shirt that was sold only for €400 while others went unnoticed.
Paul Pogba has been playing football since he was just six years old. In the last two decades of being involved in the sport, Pogba has played for a number of minor football teams as well as the big guns, which includes Manchester United and Juventus FC.
