Bayer Leverkusen hotshot Julian Brandt has made quite an impression in the Bundesliga, as well as European football and his exploits, haven’t gone unnoticed by the big boys in Europe. Th 20-year old attacking midfielder has long been touted as one of the best prospects in European and German football and it might not be long before he moves to a major European club.
If the English media is to be believed, Real Madrid has now joined Liverpool in the race to sign the highly-rated Leverkusen attacker. The Los Blancos reportedly sent scouts to watch the German youngster in action against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, in a Round of 16 encounters. This story was reported by the Daily Mail.
Brandt has long attracted interest from English giants Liverpool, with manager Jurgen Klopp having closely monitored his development in Germany. But with Real Madrid now in the hunt, it will also become an impossible task for Liverpool to lure the German winger to Anfield. Despite Liverpool’s history, they simply can’t compete with Real Madrid financially or in terms of stature, with the Spanish capital-based side being the biggest club in the world.
For Real Madrid though, it would represent an excellent piece of business to sign Brandt, as Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t getting any younger and Gareth Bale being injury prone.
