Philippe Coutinho has been asked to leave Liverpool by his international team-mate Thiago Silva, who is currently with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, as the defensive star hopes that his club can sign in the upcoming days.
The 25-year-old playmaker, who has a contract with the Premier League outfit that expires in 2022, has been linked with a move away from Anfield for quite some time now, with Barcelona being the main club being linked with him. However, it seems that PSG have an interest in adding him too to their squad and the player has been asked to leave the Merseyside at the end of the current campaign, or even prior to that.
The Reds have been trying their best to keep hold of him for quite some time now and win some titles under Jurgen Klopp, though things have not really worked out for them so far. They are still struggling to make a real impact not just in the league, but in the Champions League as well, as they get set to face off against Sevilla in mid-week.
The Telefoot now reports that Silva has urged the attack-minded player to leave his current club for a move to Paris, in order to end his misery and win silverware. “I talk a lot with Coutinho. I hope that at the end of the season or even before, it could be a nice surprise for us,” he is quoted as saying.
“I hope he will think well and that next year he will work with us.
“As with Neymar, I give him a lot of advice. But I think the most important thing for him is to make the best decision.”
Already Neymar has made the switch to the Parc des Princes this summer and has added some much-needed quality, which might be an added incentive for Coutinho to join his compatriots and only help them become stronger. PSG are also looking to make an impact in the Champions League and trying their best to regain the Ligue 1 title and it seems that though they want the attacker, who he still wants to sign for the Catalan giants.
Things could get complicated if both clubs come bidding for the player once again in January, with Jurgen Klopp having to take the tough call of whether to retain him or let him finally go. It will be interesting to see how this transfer saga actually ends, though Liverpool do have the option of really cashing in on their star and adding more quality players with the money that they do get.
