On This Day, December 2: Cesc Fabregas became Arsenal's youngest goalscorer
On this day on 2003, Cesc Fabregas became Arsenal's youngest ever goalscorer - aged 16 years and 212 days - after he scored a late goal in Arsenal's 5-1 win over Wolves in a League Cup tie. Signed in September 11 from Barcelona, Fabregas already became Arsenal's youngest player to play for Arsenal when he made an appearance against Rotherham United in a League Cup match. The game against Wolves was only his second game and Arsenal established a comfortable 4-0 lead in 80 minutes before Wolves' Alex Rae pulled one back. Heading into the final two minutes, Fabregas, with a simple tap-in, extended Gunner's lead to four and in the process, became their youngest ever goal scorer.
