Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been grabbing all the possible headlines following a former model, Kathryn Mayorga’s claims that he raped her back in 2009 in a penthouse in Las Vegas. And before his much-awaited return to Old Trafford for the Champions League game, the 33-year-old has said that he remains a ‘happy man’ and insisted that he will be cleared off over this entire feud.
Ronaldo was accused of rape by Kathryn Mayorga, 34, recently after reportedly accepting £287,000 as an off-court settlement fee when the incident happened. The fee paid by the Portuguese was settled over the fact that Mayorga would never reveal anything in public.
She, however, went to the Las Vegas police and the officials have re-opened the case. Ronaldo, on his part, has time and again denied the accusations while his lawyers are working over the case. Meanwhile, the prodigal son returns to Old Trafford but this time as a Juventus player.
He made a surprise appearance in the pre-match press conference and was obviously asked over the aforementioned feud, to which he said that he still remains a happy man because he has people who take care of his life.
I know that I am [an] example. I know, 100 per cent. In the pitch and outside the pitch,” Ronaldo said in the pre-match press conference ahead of Juventus’ Champions League tie with his former club Manchester United at Old Trafford.
“So I’m always smiling, I’m a happy man, I’m blessed that I play in a fantastic club, I have a fantastic family, I have four kids, I am healthy, I have everything so the rest doesn’t interfere on me so I’m very very glad.
“We did the statement two weeks ago if I’m not wrong, so I’m glad. Of course, I’m not going to lie on this situation.
“I’m very happy, my lawyers they are confident and of course I am too so the most important [thing is] I enjoy the football, I enjoy my life, the rest I have people who take care of my life and of course the truth is always coming in the first position, so I’m good.
