New year has brought new joy for Manchester United midfielder Fred and his fiancee Monique, as the couple welcomed their first child Benjamin. Taking to Instagram, the former Shakhtar midfielder announced the news and said his son is the greatest treasure of his life.
“16/01/2019 in 1:33 was born my greatest treasure!
“When a child is born, born in the heart of parents one love greater than life and more eternal than time!
“Welcome to the world my beloved son! We love you so much Benjamin!”
Fred and Monique, who made their relationship official back in 2016, announced their engagement in February 2018.
That being said, Fred has become fourth Manchester United player to become a father in recent days. It was in December 2018 that striker Romelu Lukaku became a father for the first time. The Belgium forward missed two games over Christmas for personal reasons. He travelled to America to be with girlfriend Sarah Mens as she gave birth to baby Romeo.
And it was only a couple of days back that the news of Paul Pogba becoming a father broke out. The news was all but confirmed by Manchester United legend Bryan Robson who has claimed that he came to know about the birth of Pogba’s first child when the Manchester United players were in Dubai for their winter training schedules.
Robson said as quoted by the Sun, “When I saw Paul last week in Dubai with the United squad, I had a little chat and congratulated him on the birth of his baby. He just seemed so relaxed and easy with things.”
Apart from the aforementioned names, midfielder Nemanja Matic and wife Aleksandra welcomed their third child this week. The couple has two other children, son Filip and daughter Tea. Taking to Instagram, the Serbian midfielder thanked his fans for the support and quoted, “A new member of the Matic family, Anika is born today. Happy day for me and my family, new member of Matic family, thank you.”
