World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann needs no introduction whatsoever, which is all down to not just his footballing brilliance, but also to his splendid lifestyle and fashion sense. Right from his extravagant celebrations to donning some ritzy – yet vague – attires, Griemann surely knows how to grab headlines.
His personal life, however, isn’t known to many aside from the fact he is married and has a daughter Mia with his partner, Erika Choperena. Talking of Erika, the Spaniard’s personality is extremely contrary to that of her husband. How do you ask? Well, for the starters, she prefers staying away from all the limelight. Bacary Sagna’s wife Ludivine Sagna once talked about Erika and described her as “very kind but very discreet.”
Erika completed her graduation in San Sebastian and went on to become a child psychologist. But it seems she had another dream to pursue and for that to happen, she started a beauty blog called Cordialmente Erika. But when her relationship with the footballer was made public – in 2014 – she was forced to deactivate her blog due to growing popularity. The reason was simple; she didn’t want that kind of fame.
Antoine and Erika had first met when the footballer was plying his trade with Real Sociedad, while Erika was studying in San Sebastian. Admitting the fact of life, the Frenchman made a revelation in his autobiography; “For a year and a half, I sent her messages, I tried to seduce her. We have been together since December 27, 2011.” And the couple has been together in every step since. They eventually got married in 2017 at the Palacio de Galiana castle in Toledo, Spain.
Back in 2014 when Griezmann signed for Atletico, the couple moved to Madrid before announcing the birth of their daughter Mia in 2016. The year- 2016 – brought utter success in the Frenchman’s life, having finished the Euro 2016 as the top-scorer of the tournament. And he was backed by Erika in almost every game. The same, however, cannot be said about Griezmann’s Atletico games as Erika is rarely spotted at Wanda Metropolitano.
Funny Incident: Back in March 2017, Atletico welcomed Valencia and after scoring a brace, Griezmann received a €500 fine from the Spanish Football Association just because he celebrated by lifting his shirt which has the message “‘Feliz Cumple Gordita’ (Happy Birthday Chubby)”.
