One of the best goalkeepers of his generation, Santiago Canizares was born on 18 December, 1969 in Madrid Spain. Canizares started his career at Real Madrid where he was a backup. In order to gain more first-team opportunities, he moved to Spanish giants Valencia where he became a legend, making 418 appearances for the club. He won two La Liga crowns and also reached back to back UEFA Champions League finals. He was also capped by the Spanish national side 46 times. In 2004, the legendary Peter Schmeichel called him the “finest goalkeeper in world football”.
