Eldrick Tont Woods – simply known as Tiger – is one of the best and highest earning sportsmen in the industry and no one can deny the fact. His exploits in the game have been superb and his records are a no match. But with fame comes the glamour and Tiger is no different.
Back in 2009, reports claimed that Tiger had extramarital affair with New York City nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel, however, she denied those claims. Just a month later, more than a dozen women claimed in various media outlets to have had affairs with Woods. This was a major turnaround in his career as he saw many of his personal endorsement deals getting away and in the process, Wood’s faced a loss between $5 billion and $12 billion.
Before the event, Woods was unarguably one of the best-paid sportsmen – and he still is- but the times have surely changed. Here are some of the brands who deiced to part ways with the Golfer –
Gatorade –
Back in October 2007, Gatorade announced that they will be releasing Woods’ very own brand of sports drink which would be named as ‘Tiger Focus’. Although no figure was publicly announced, reports claimed that Woods signed the deal for five years of worth $100 million.
Two years later, they were the first company to part their ways from the golfer after his scandals were publicized. Later on, the company went on to say that their decision had nothing to do with the Woods’ scandals.
Gillette, AT&T and more –
More troubles were waiting for Woods and as soon as the Gatorade deal was terminated, his endorsements with AT&T and Accenture was discontinued as well. In 2010, Gillette followed the tradition and decided to step back as well and the company said it would not renew its sponsorship agreement with Woods.
A year later, he was again hit as Tag Heuer decided to drop Woods. However, as per the Golf World, the luxury watch makers ended their deal when their contract with the player expired.
Then in 2013, EA Sports announced that they will be discontinuing their Tiger Woods PGA Tour game franchise as well. Tiger Woods bounced back from this but could never garner enough craze like he did earlier.
