With Hockey World Cup 2018 being hosted in Odisha’s Bhubaneshwar, massive plans have been chalked out for the turnaround of the capital city. The civic body will be executing three main projects in order to improve city’s core infrastructure to enhance the ambiance of the capital.
The tender process has been already initiated for 80 km stretch of the main road to carry mechanical sweeping in order to improve the sanitation with nearly 100 e-toilets. These steps will help to make the city environment clean and green. The e-toilets will have auto cleaning facility made of stainless steel.
To avoid water logging, drainage master plan of the Works Department is implemented. “We will also take up cleaning of the basins of the 10 natural drainage channels crisscrossing the City. The work will be over by the second week of June,” said a senior BMC official to New Indian Express.
The state government has also decided to decorate the city with a central theme of hockey. Wall painters and artists commissioned by the civic body would paint the city with their creative ideas. The tournament starts from November 28 and it will run till December 16 at the Kalinga Stadium. India are in group C along with Belgium and South Africa.
