The Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018 got the grandest opening in its history. Top Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene and AR Rahman performed at its opening ceremony on November 27, Tuesday, in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha – the state hosting the grand sporting event.
Though everything about the glammed-up night was scintillating, it was Shah Rukh Khan’s stellar ‘Chak De! India’ act that overshadowed everything. Shah Rukh drove the crowd mad when he mouthed the famous ’70-minute dialogue’ from his 2007 mega hit, Chak De! India. In the movie, Shah Rukh played the role of Kabir Khan, coach of India Women’s Hockey team.
Shah Rukh also shared about playing hockey in the early years of his life and said, “I did play a little bit of hockey in school and college. I used to play as a centre-forward, and right opposite me was obviously a goalkeeper”.
Madhuri also performed in a dance drama called ‘The Earth Song’, the theme of which is oneness of humanity.
Shah Rukh has been playing a vital role in promoting Hockey World Cup 2018, significantly because it’s taking place in India this year.
There are 16 teams participating in the mega event, who will play in four pools from November 28 till December 16.
