In a massive turn of an event, home team Gujarat Fortunegiants defeated Bengaluru Bulls 27-24 and continued their home domination, winning the fourth game on the trot (at home) in the Pro Kabaddi League, 2017 edition.
Gujarat started off slowly and were the second best for the majority of the game. However, an utter domination late in the game handed them a well-deserved victory. For the home team, Gujarat, the likes of Rohit Gulia, Sachin and Parvesh Bhainswal bagged four points each. For the visiting team, Rohit Kumar remained the stand out performer, grabbing a massive seven points, while Kuldeep Singh managed five.
Bengaluru’s Rohit Kumar, with 7 raid points, was named as the perfect raider of the match, while Gujarat’s Parvesh Bhainswal, with 100% tackle success, was named as the player of the match.
The deadlock was broken after four back to back empty raids, but both Gujarat Fortunegiants and Bengaluru Bulls were breathing heavily on the neck of each other. In what was closed early encounter, Bengaluru Bulls went 8 points ahead, courtesy to three successful raids from Rohit Kumar. (3-11)
Gujarat pulled four back after Rohit Gulia’s and Sachin’s two raid points cut the comedy for Bengaluru Bulls. (7-11) Soon after, Bengaluru upped their lead to six points after Gujarat Fortunegiants’ Sachin failed in his attempt.
Heading into the half time, Gujarat pulled one back, but were still five points behind. Sachin, Rohit Gulia and Sukesh Hegde remained Gujarat Fortunegiants’ top scorer with two points each, while Rohit Kumar for Bengaluru Bulls was ahead of all with five points in his bag.
Soon after the restart, Gujarat Fortunegiants tried testing Bengaluru’s resolve, but unfortunately to effect. As Rohit Gulia pulled one back for Gujarat, Bengaluru went on to dominate the stride, winning five back to back points, with Rohit Kumar handing his side important points. (10-19)
Gujarat Fortunegiants were never a team to take lightly and they duly delivered what was promised. Tackling Ashish Kumar handed them two points before Mahendra Rajput’s raid reduced the deficit to five points. (15-20)
Heading into the final ten minutes, Bengaluru Bulls’ Rohit Kumar remained the top scorer with a whopping seven points, while his compatriot Kuldeep Singh was just behind with five points. For Gujarat Fortunegiants, Rohit Gulia, Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal had three points at their disposal.
Following the restart, an unsuccessful attempt from Bengaluru’s Gurvinder Singh and an impressive raid from Mahendra Rajput reduced the deficit and the score was soon 21-21 after Bengaluru’s Ajay Kumar failed in his attempt. Courtesy to an amazing raid from Sachin, Gujarat took the lead for the first time in the game and the score went uphill for the home team since then. 24-21
The game was always going to be a close encounter and it duly delivered what was promised. A bonus point for Bengaluru and they were back in the game. Gujarat, however, wasted no time in regaining their lead, courtesy to a successful raid from Mahendra Rajput. 25-24
The lead was extended to three points after Bengaluru’s Gurvinder Singh failed in his attempt and Gujarat won the game with scoreline stating 27-24.
