Former Indian captain and presently the president of Cricket Association of Bengal, Sourav Ganguly will be singing the National Anthem to launch the Kolkata leg of the second edition of Pro Kabaddi League.
The format of Pro Kabaddi League is such that the tournament goes from one franchisee city to the other and as a result, the second leg of the tournament will be played in Kolkata. The first leg was played in Mumbai from July 18. The next stop now is Kolkata.
It won’t just be the pride of Bengal Sourav Ganguly, who will be present there on the occasion of the inauguration. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee will also be there. She will inaugurate the Kolkata leg once the National Anthem has been sung by Dada.
After these formalities, the defending champions, Pink Panthers of Jaipur will be taking on the Bengal Warriors, where they will play four matches.
CEO of home franchise Bengal Warriors said, “At each venue, one big celebrity of the city recites the National Anthem to inaugurate the respective franchise’s opening leg. Here Sourav will do the honours.”
Coach of Bengal Warriors Raj Narain Sharma, “We will give our best to get maximum points out of the home leg.” On the other hand, captain of the Pink Panthers, Navneet Gautam, said that they are looking to retain the title.
