Vijay Goel is been in the news for all the wrong reasons. After the Shobhaa De tweet that said ‘Rio jaao, selfie lo, khaali haath aao’, irony has helped Vijay Goel to face a backlash of all sorts from social media. While the Indian athletes have been giving away blood, sweat and tears for chasing medals, Vijay has been busy chasing selfies. With almost looking like an entirely exhausted Vikas Krishan to India’s golden girl, Dipa Karmakar, Vijay’s selfie game has been ace but at what cost though?
It’s not looking nice at all for the Indian minister as this is the letter from Sarah Peterson, continental manager of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, asked Rakesh Gupta, India’s chef de mission, to pass on a warning to Vijay Goel.
“We have had multiple reports of your Minister for Sports trying to enter accredited areas at venues with unaccredited individuals. When the staff tried to explain that this is not allowed, they reported that the people with the Minister have become aggressive and rude and sometimes pushed past our staff,” said Sarah Peterson.
“As you can understand, this type of behavior is not acceptable. Despite previous warnings, it would seem that even today the same incident occurred at the Rio Olympic Arena (Gymnastics venue) and Carioca Arena 3.” Peterson added.
