Abhinav Bindra, who rose to glory in 2008 after winning Gold at 10 mtr Air Rifle event in Beijing Olympics, has been devoting all his time to contributing to the world of sports.
His business entrepreneurial ventures in the field have not only helped thousands of athletes across the country, but his experience plays a major role and his work is proof of it.
The sporting icon has finally made his presence felt in the city of Pune when the former ace shooter launched a state-of-the-art physiotherapy and rehabilitation center on Monday.
The center which is named – Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance (ABTP), will be a not-for-profit venture and will be managed by the former athlete’s Abhinav Bindra Foundation while the center is supported by Bajaj Auto.
The ABTP center in Pune will be the fifth in the country with prior ventures in Mohali, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Bhubaneswar.
Consultation and treatment will be offered free of charge to athletes since the project is supported by the foundation, while non-athletes can also avail treatments for neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions.
ABTP boasts of high-precision machines which help in understanding an athletes body, injuries and even posture. Data collected by the machine is then used to improve the training methods of the athletes.
Talking about the center, Abhinav said, “The use of technology and sports science is very critical in sports not just in terms of management of injuries, but also prevention of injuries. The same concept can also be utilized for performance enhancement. Sports today is all about the synchronization of mind and body and this technology here is all about it.”
The center will be crucial in the growth of sports in Pune since the city boasts establishments like Army Sports Institute, Bombay Sappers and many shooting academies. The ABTP center is situated right in front of Ruby Hall Hospital at DP Road.
