Legendary tennis player Venus Williams has revealed her fitness secrets, sharing her workout plans and training regimen with her fans.
Venus who has accomplished virtually everything in the game of tennis, revealed that it takes hard work to stay at the peak of one’s power for such a long period.
Speaking to SHAPE magazine, Venus revealed that cardio was the workout of her choice. “If I were to pick one [workout], it would be lots of cardio. “You can’t do your best at your match if you’re out of shape.”
Venus also revealed that she wasn’t much of a long distance runner. “I’m not a good distance runner, but I enjoy fast-paced plyometrics and sprints. It’s a lot more intriguing and makes the time go by a lot faster.”
Venus further added that she performs at the highest level when she visualises her goals and is comfortable with herself. “I try to visualise what my goals are, but more than anything, I just want to be confident and relaxed. That’s when your best comes out, and you feel good about you.”
Venus has been one of the fittest players in the world of tennis and even at the age of 36, where most players are retired and content with their lives, is performing at an extremely high level, reaching the finals of the Australian Open in 2017. So her fans would be well advised to follow her footsteps and come up with a proper workout plan.
