It is very difficult to keep your personal life under wraps when you are a professional athlete. While the athletes play their hearts out on field or court, it is very difficult for them to stop paparazzi and fans from keeping a tab on their personal life. We look at some of the present and past stars who are now having a fabulous life beyond tennis circle.
Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger
The former World No 1 and Grand Slam winner Ana Ivanovic and her relationship with German World Cup-winning footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger began to see each other since 2014. Their relationship came into limelight when the German footballer was seen in stand supporting the Serbian during the 2015 French Open. The couple walked down the aisle in July 2016 and are now proud parents of a baby boy.
Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf
Both the players had an outstanding career sharing 30 Grand Slams tournament titles between them and two Olympic Gold medals. The romance between the two former World No 1 blossomed when they met after their victories at the 1999 French Open in their respective categories. Thereafter, the pair started spending time on tour and eventually got married in October 2001. A year after their wedding, their son Jaden was born and in 2003, Graf gave birth to a daughter named Jaz.
Jimmy Corners and Chris Evert
Both the players had an established tennis career sharing 26 Grand Slam titles between them. Their romance came into media limelight in the 1970s, when they both won the Wimbledon singles titles in 1974. Connors and Evert also played mixed doubles occasionally. Evert was 19 years old when they got engaged but the relationship didn’t last as it was hit by rough waves.
In May 2013, the ex-couple was once again in the news due to Connors autobiography The Outsider, which reveals the secret that ended their whirlwind romance. Connors says his ex-fiancée had an abortion without his consent, which led to their break-up.
Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias
Former Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova’s fame has come from the publicity surrounding her looks and her personal life. She never won the singles title in her career, but as ranked No 1 in the doubles category. Kournikova first started seeing Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias since 2001. Though the couple has been together for more than a decade, they have expressed no intention of getting married. In June 2008, Iglesias was quoted by the Daily Star as having married Kournikova the previous year and subsequently separated. The couple has twin kids Nicholas and Lucy.
