Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He also is one of the most emotional and charged up players in the game, who feeds from the energy of the crowd, as well as his coaching staff in the player’s box. Not often seen in the player’s box though, is Rafael Nadal’s long-time girlfriend, Maria Francisca Perello.
Nadal and Maria have been in a relationship since they were teenagers and are still going strong. Maria has now revealed the secret of why the pair is still going strong and why she doesn’t often attend Rafael Nadal’s matches in person.
Maria said, “Travelling together everywhere, even if I could, would not be good either for him or for me, He needs his space when he is competing, and just the idea of me hanging around waiting on his needs all day wears me out. It would asphyxiate me. And then he would have to be worrying about me … No. If I followed him everywhere, I think there’s a risk we might stop getting along.”
This shows the level of understanding which the pair enjoy and is one of the reasons why they are still going strong. Having a healthy understanding, is key after all, to a successful relationship.
