Angelique Kerber, the German tennis superstar has had an incredible resurgence in 2018, rising once again to the forefront of women’s tennis. She has risen to No.2 in the WTA rankings and perhaps won the biggest accolade of her career, winning the Wimbledon crown beating the legendary Serena Williams in the final. It was the first Wimbledon title of her career and the third overall in which she has become the first German woman after the legendary Steffi Graf to have Grand Slam honours to her name.
Such a year deserves to be celebrated and after a heavily hectic schedule, the German beauty is living it up in the offseason in the scenic resort island of Amilla Fushi in the Maldives.
The German has been more than happy to share pictures of her travel diaries from the Maldives and here are a few of those:
Arriving in the Maldives, Kerber was more than happy to escape the daily monotonous routines of her life, writing on her Instagram, “Escaping my daily routine … Good vibes only.”
Keber was also elated to enjoy the early morning sunshine of the Maldives, gleaming in delight, wishing her followers a lovely morning.
Tennis is a highly competitive game and even during the off-season, the players have to work extremely hard on their fitness and this fact was not lost on the World No.2, who took part in some early morning workout, surrounded by some heavenly views.
Kerber also took some time out to explore various different places and indulged her love for diving, writing, “Rediscovered my love for diving. Pure tranquility, no cell phones.”
Kerber also shared a video of her taking a dive in the sea after finishing off her workout.
Finally, it was time to bid goodbye for the islands and Kerber was well and truly smitten by the heavenly abode which is the Maldives, writing, “Not sure I am coming back.Β There is a good chance I will miss my flight.”
