The second biggest event of WWE’s annual programming season (after Wrestlemania ofcourse) is here now and SummerSlam is expected to be bigger than ever. Some of the biggest matches will be on display at the event and the fans will be waiting to see which superstars come out on top and how the events unfold on a night, where anything is possible. The company will be looking to make a buzz and get the fans going berserk, as they look to put on a show yet again.
With a long list of must-see matches lined up, the event will surely be a spectacle and here are my predictions for the matches that take place at the event-
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
Once again the “Big Dog” will be taking on the Beast, though it seems that things might not be different this time either. The WWE has been building on the whole superhero angle, where the Samoan superstar saves the company from Brock, though that might just be a way to mask the true result. We might once again see Brock beat Roman and eventually drop the title to Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman later, as it was previously expected to happen.
Alexa Bliss vs. Ronda Rousey
Though on paper Ronda Rousey will destroy her SummerSlam opponent and become the new WWE Raw Women’s champion, there might still be a few twists and turns left in this one. we am sure that the company will not dethrone Bliss so easily, though the eventual winner should be Rousey and Natalya might still have a key part to play in the whole story.
AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
A match, which has been years in the making and who would have imagined that these former TNA stars would be someday facing off in a WWE ring. The storyline has become a bit ugly with Joe involving AJ’s personal life and this could be a hint that the WWE champ could be on the verge of retiring from professional wrestling soon. Let’s see how this rivalry develops now, though it might be the perfect platform for Joe’s first title run in the making.
Carmella vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair
It is tough to predict whether the WWE will make Carmella drop the belt or not, though the audience does not really feel that she deserves to be champion. There are a couple of possibilities in this case. Either Carmella will lose the title and Becky(who deserves it will win) or it might be the best way that the champ silences her critics by beating two of the top women on SmackDown Live and then goes down to Asuka, who is currently missing from live television.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins
The addition of Dean Ambrose to the storyline might see Seth Rollins regain the title from Dolph and the duo can be involved with the former Shield members over the next few weeks. The title might change hands quite a few times and it will be interesting to see who eventually has hold of it, though both competitors thoroughly deserve it. Unless the company wants to put Seth in the main event picture soon, he should be the Inter Continental champ once again by the end of the night.
Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
Years in the making, the mentor and mentee from NXT finally face off against each other and will be eager to tear each other apart. With The Miz becoming a reality TV star already and working on several projects related to Hollywood, it might be Bryan who wins this one, as the WWE looks to revive the YES movement and his career once again.
Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens
It might be time for a new Mr. Money In The Bank at the pay-per-view, as the WWE writers clearly understand that the image does not go right with Braun’s mean-monster. If he were to cash in the contract and take advantage of a helpless champion, it would kill off any fear that has been instilled by the character so far and this is something that they will not happening any time soon. With that being said, Owens has been a really hard-working superstar for quite some time and once again deserves the push.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Jeff Hardy
Another match which will surely be complex and will have Randy Orton lurking around the corner with respect to the final result, is the one between Nakamura and Jeff Hardy. Though the Rockstar of WWE will be expected to win and retain his title, it will not be as easy as it seems. There have been rumours going around that that he might be all set to return to New Japan Pro Wrestling and if that is true, he might dropping the title to either one of them. However, it is highly unlikely that he will do that at SummerSlam, unless Orton gets added to the match.
Bludgeon Brothers vs. New Day
This might be the start of a new tag-team title run for the New Day, who might finally be the team to end the overhauling mean-streak of the Bludgeon Brothers, who have held these titles for quite some time now. It might be the time for a change in the tag-team divison on SmackDown Live and this could be it. Whichever duo from the three-man team will compete for the titles, should end up winning it.
Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin
Either superstar could be given the push from this point onwards. It might be Balor who might be chosen once again for big things. His career has been quite stagnant and the loss would really hurt it and push him down a hole from which he might never recover. On the other hand, the Constable has just been doing all the right things to get heat from the Universe and the loss might not really hurt his chances of a future push too much. However, it the creative team wants to bury Balor completely, they might think otherwise and that can possibly be the end of his career with the company.
Elias musical performance
This will just be a small gimmick followed by interference once again, most probably by Bobby Lashley. The duo could be engaging in a match and if that is the case, Elias might lose it and the former MMA star could continue on his path of destruction. Once the title match is settled between Brock and Roman, he might be given a chance to have a go at them in the days to come.
