WWE superstar John Cena throughout the years has never been averse to trying out bold things in his career. This is the primary reason why he has not only tasted inside the WWE ring but also off it these days, as he has embarked on a successful acting as well as reality television career.
The wrestling legend is recognized as the most successful and decorated pro-wrestler of all-time within the WWE world, being a 16-time World Champion. These days, he is mostly a part-time superstar, concentrating on his acting career, making sporadic appearances in the ring during the big events.
He also has many endorsement deals to his name, one of which is with the Vodka brand SKYY.
In the new commercial for the liquor brand, Cena has gone full 90’s getting a look which closely resembles that of the popular boy-band Backstreet Boys in the 90’s during their ultra-successful Millenium era.
On the new ad and the ‘Proudly American’ tagline, Cena said as quoted by Cageside Seats,
“I was really drawn to the fact that it was titled ‘Proudly American.’ I am a proud patriot, and I think a patriot first, above all [embraces diversity].
I think it’s a message that’s not only good now, but it’s good anytime and anywhere. I think, no matter what the situation — if it’s hard political times or if it’s everybody playing nice together — the message of embracing diversity is important every single day, no matter where you are on your history timeline.
I’m very, extremely happy that not only is the entertainment industry moving that way [towards diversity and inclusivity], but America is moving that way.
One could speculate that the reason for all the political tension is that America is, once again, going through a giant phase of change. And I think we’re going to come out great. I think it’s going to be a wonderful thing. It’s just not without its bumps and bruises.”
Watching Cena in such an avatar is well and truly weird and once you see his looks, you will never be able to unsee it!
This is not the only endorsement deal which Cena has on his hands as he earns a whopping $5m per year from his various endorsements.
