While the league is set to begin in just a few days, every franchise will likely miss a few of their key players for the first few games. Due to the tight international calendar and injuries, team management is rushing to find replacements.

Mumbai Indians pacer Jofra Archer and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav are still recovering from injuries and likely to miss the initial matches. Deepak Chahar is trying to overcome his injury and will cut most of the games. Moeen Ali had a delay in his air clearance and landed just a few days before the event and will miss the first game due to mandatory quarantine. KKR called Aaron Finch to replace Alex Hales, who pulled out from the IPL citing bubble fatigue. Pat Cummins will skip the first few games due to the Pakistan series and following quarantine protocol.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will miss the newlywed Glenn Maxwell in the initial games. Josh Hazelwood and other Aussie players will be released only after April 6. Delhi Capitals will undergo several changes since most players are part of their national side participating in other series. David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Lungi Ngidi, and Mustafizur are playing for their national teams. Anrich Nortje’s injury is the biggest concern for DC. Players’ unavailability troubles Punjab Kings as well. Kagiso Rabada is playing against Bangladesh, Jonny Bairstow is with the English Test side playing against West Indies

The new franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, suffered an early blow when Mark Wood is ruled out of the event due to his injury. Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers will miss LSG in the earlier games alongside Marcus Stoinis. Another new team, the Gujarat Titans, will miss Jason Roy as he opted out because of bubble fatigue.
