Women’s T20 Challenge: Supernovas Won the Title 3rd Time

In the final match of the Women’s T20 Challenge played between Supernovas and Velicity in Pune, Supernovas won the title by defeating Velocity by 4 runs in a thrilling match. Batting first, Supernovas, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, scored 165 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs

In response to this Velocity’s team could only manage 161 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In the last over, the team needed 17 runs to win but only 12 runs were scored.

Final Match Review

Deandra Dottin was adjudged Player of the Match and also the Player of the Tournament for her match-winning knock of 44 balls and 66 runs in the final and excellent batting throughout the tournament. The team of Supernovas became champions for the third time in the history of the tournament. This was the fourth edition of the tournament.

Chasing the target of 166 runs in the pressure match of the final, Velocity was not started well. Their openers made a quick start by scoring 29 runs in 2 overs, but after this, both got out.

Shefali scored 15 runs in 8 balls. After this, Yastika Bhatia was also dismissed in the next over after scoring 13 runs in 9 balls. After this, the team continued to suffer setbacks. Kiran Navgire, who played a brilliant inning in the last match, was dismissed without opening an account in 13 balls.

Laura Wolvaert scored 65 runs in 40 balls amidst the falling wickets at the other end. Simran also scored 20 runs in 10 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six, but the team lost.

Elana King took 3 wickets for Supernovas. Sophie and Dottin got 2 wickets each. Pooja Vastrakar got a breakthrough.
