Former South Africa cricketer and one of the finest all-rounder of the game, Jacques Kallis walked down the aisle alongside his longtime girlfriend Charlene Engels as the couple got married on Saturday.
According to a report on channel 24, the wedding could have been spoiled by a wildfire rage near an estate at Hemel-en-Aarde valley near Hermanusthe, the venue which hosted the function. The fire department got into the act on time to control the fire and the ceremony went ahead as planned.
South African website Times Live reported that over 300 stems of “ice white” hydrangeas from Spain and 200 phalaenopsis orchid plants from Singapore had been flown to make the event special for the couple.
Engels made the news official through her official Instagram handle on Tuesday and also thanked all the well-wishers who cared and also congratulated them for entering the new phase of their life.
“And it’s official…Mr & Mrs Kallis!!! We are beyond excited to start our new chapter in the book of this fiery relationship! It started with a fire…now we just need to keep the fire burning in our marriage! We are completely overwhelmed with all the phone calls & messages received – THANK YOU!!! Words cannot express our gratitude! We are still trying to get through them and will respond to each message. It was truly a magical day and we are forever grateful!” the part of the message read.
Kallis also shared a photo of himself and his wife inside a plane, as the couple is off to an undisclosed location for their honeymoon. The former cricketer will be back in India soon for the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he is the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
