Troubled former Barcelona and Brazil legend has landed in an even bigger soup as Brazilian authorities have seized three of his luxurious cars from his property for unpaid dues. The Brazilian has allegedly gone bankrupt due to a string of bad investments and only has £5 in his bank account.
Prosecutors have long been chasing Ronaldinho and his brother for the money they owe in fines for charges levied against his charity. The charges are that the charity destroyed a native forest without the requisite permissions. The officials have already seized his passport and found out back then that the skillful former footballer was on the verge of going bankrupt with a meager amount found in his bank account.
In order to ensure that the Brazilian pays up, the authorities have now raided his home property and seized some of his most valuable cars, which include two BMW’s and a Mercedes Benz.
The authorities have also seized Ronaldinho’s art collection from Ronaldinho’s property in Porto Alegre.
The money owed by Ronaldinho’s charity to the authorities is believed to be around the £1.75million mark. The prosecutors have promised that the seized assets would be returned to the legend when the fines are paid in full.
Ronaldinho’s lawyers have claimed that the footballer will appeal against the actions in the court and the procedure is still ongoing.
