Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the biggest if not the biggest name in the world of football. Frankly, he has transcended even the most popular game on the planet and is much more than just a football player. He is a celebrity from top to the toe in any sense of imagination and he still will be long after he has retired from the game.
One might not be wrong in assessing that he is the true heir to David Beckham as he is not only a much better footballer than David Beckham ever was, but will also become a successful entrepreneur and a brand icon after he is done with the game.
Not many chapters in the book of Cristiano Ronaldo remain a mystery. He has lived a luxurious life and has also been a Casanova since he broke on to the scene. He has dated some of the most beautiful women in the world, including supermodel Irina Shayk.
He has a chiselled physique while also being one of the highest paid footballers in the world and the star man at the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid.
But very few people know that despite Ronaldo’s wrongly formed image of being a party animal, he has been averse to drinking alcohol throughout the years. Yes, he has been seen toasting to his teammates and popping open a bottle of champagne but has never been pictured drinking it.
There is a very tragic story behind his hatred for alcohol. Though Ronaldo has never personally spoken on it, it has widely been speculated and claimed by people close to him that Ronaldo has vowed not to consume alcohol due to his father being an alcoholic. Ronaldo came from humble backgrounds and could never have a close bonding with his father José Dinis Aveiro due to him being a heavy alcoholic. He died at the age of 50 when Ronaldo was 20, due to an alcoholism-related liver condition. He could thus never watch his son ascend to the top and dominate the game.
Now that is a true role model!
