The future of Ross Barkley at Goodison Park is in doubt, with north London giants Tottenham looking to add him to their current squad this summer. Spurs have been keeping tabs on the England international and might launch a bid soon, in order to bring him to White Hart Lane this summer. The 23-year-old attacker is wanted by Mauricio Pochettino’s side, though they will not pay the Toffees’ £50m asking price.
The Merseyside club, who just recently signed their former talisman Wayne Rooney back from Premier League giants Manchester United, are not ready to part ways with the attacking midfielder that easily.

Rooney On The Verge of Everton Return
Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is set for a return to former club Everton according to reports. It is understood that the Red Devils' all-time leading goal-scorer was withdrawn from the club's pre-season tour squad in order to complete the transfer to the Toffees.
The 31-year old has found himself on the fringes of the United first-team under Jose Mourinho last season and is keen on playing regularly. Everton manager Ronald Koeman has previously stated that he would like to work with Rooney at his boyhood club and it seems like the move is just on the horizon. Rooney is set to agree a £250,000-per-week deal with the Merseyside club and will become the third former Manchester United player to move to the Goodison Park in the past year after Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Keane. Stoke City Plan Shock Wayne Rooney Move
Stoke City are planning a shocking swoop for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney in the summer transfer window – with the financial backing of their official sponsors Bet365.
The 31-year old United and England captain has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign and a move to the Chinese Super League has long been speculated about. However, Stoke, driven by manager Mark Hughes and backed by Bet365, are preparing a whopping £45 million package to tempt him to a move.
Rooney has just a year left on his contract with United, but after their UEFA Europa League triumph made it clear that he does not wish to play for any other Premier League club other than United and his former club Everton, which would complicate things for the Potters.
Chelsea leading the race for most-wanted centre-back in the Premier League, Everton place a hefty price tag on exit-bound attacker, Arsenal to pry away young striker from London rivals, Stoke City's Jack Butland on the radar of several English heavyweights and Manchester United to go head to head against Real Madrid for a 16-year old wonderkid – here's what is going in today's transfer news in our Premier League round-up:
Chelsea Lead Race For Van Dijk
Premier League's most sought-after defender Virgil van Dijk is on his way to Chelsea according to reports. The Dutchman is a transfer target for the Blues along with Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton.
However, the 25-year old seems intent on joining up with the Premier League title winners Chelsea in the summer. Van Dijk has become one of the best defenders in the top flight since he joined the Saints from Scottish side Celtic in the past two years.
Southampton are under no pressure to sell Van Dijk in the summer as revealed by manager Claude Puel earlier this week, but are believed to be demanding a fee in the region of £50 million and upwards for the Dutchman's services. (Daily Star)
Ross Barkley has had moments where he has been sublime, and others when he has been abominable this season. Ronald Koeman questioned his ability to deliver in the major games and has called him out in press conferences when he has not done well, to get him to improve and not stagnate at the level of a mid-table club. The constant jibes from his manager may have created self-doubt in his mind to stay at Everton when he knows he could move to a club striving to win trophies.
In his recent conference, Ronald Koeman issued a warning to Barkley: to sign the contract or to depart in the summer. Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to him, and with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm of the club, there is a high probability at 60% that he will move if they lodge an offer for him. At Tottenham, he will enhance their options when they face another UEFA Champions League campaign and get to play around his English teammates: Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Delle Alli.
