Celebrities are people who a layman looks up to and considers them as role models. Hence, it becomes their foremost duty to behave responsibly and set examples for the public. Indian athletes are the pride of our nation and with an amazing act of fulfilling their duties by casting their votes and encouraging others to do the same as well, they sure are spreading good awareness amongst the general public.
The 17th Lok Sabha elections began on April 11 and the results will be declared on May 23. Of all seven phases, the first phase of elections covered the maximum number of states — 91 constituencies across 20 states.
Among the athletes who’ve already voted are shuttler Jwala Gutta, tennis players Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna and cricketers Anil Kumble, Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammad Azharuddin and former footballer Bhaichung Bhutia.

Former footballer Bhaichung Bhutia posted his picture on Twitter after casting his vote. The athlete has also urged other citizens to responsibly cast their vote and elect a good representative for themselves.
Bhutia has a keen interest in politics. He has his own political party ‘Hamro Sikkim’ which was formed last year. Before he started his own party, he was associated with Trinamool Congress.
Retired badminton player Jwala Gutta posted this picture on Instagram where she is posing with her family after casting their votes.
Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble also took to Instagram to share this picture of him and wife Chetna showing their inked fingers.
Professional tennis player Rohan Bopanna voted in Karnataka a few days back and posted this picture with his family with a caption saying, “Voted today, My first vote ever.”
Former cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin also cast his vote and posted a picture of the same on the ‘Gram.
The stylish Hyderabadi batsman Mohammad Azharuddin began his political innings in 2009 when he joined Congress. He has disclosed his intention to contest 2019 elections from Secunderabad parliamentary constituency in Telangana.

Star tennis player Sania Mirza also did her bit and posted this picture on her Twitter account saying, “Go out there and vote..it’s your right.”
She was recently featured in Ananya Birla’s new single ‘Unstoppable’ which talks about women empowerment.
The most recent one to cast his vote is one of India’s most dependable batsman in Test Cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara. He cast his vote today and posted the picture with his wife Puja and father Arvind in Rajkot.
He also urged everyone else to vote as well by saying, “Cast my vote with my family! I urge you all to be responsible citizens of this democratic country and cast your vote. The future of this country is on the tip of your fingers!”
It is really a proud feeling for us Indians to see these honorable athletes taking such an initiative of inspiring others to vote for their country.
