When you go through a boxing champs life like Anthony Joshua’s, you may get a variety of fascinations, based on the boxer’s like for spoils, but one thing is constant with every successful sports star, and that is their lavish lifestyle.
Massive homes, the costliest wheels, the hottest WAG’s and the biggest endorsements, the classic mix of a sporting icon’s life. But every now and then we witness the humble and down to earth personality of a few athletes, who are noteworthy and well, can teach you a thing or two about life too.
Anthony Joshua, Britain’s boxing champ is known for his lavish lifestyle. A scroll through his Instagram feed will definitely show you the spoils of being one of the biggest names in the ring. But AJ is always considered to be down to earth and humble. What’s more? He doesn’t even spend a penny on all those top-notch assets and glittery lifestyle.
Despite being worth over £35 million, AJ is so humble that he still lives with his mother in a former council home and also gets everything from luxury holidays to his clothes, absolutely free.
We have talked about his very basic training camp house in Sheffield, with tattered sofas and just one washroom, but even though AJ might be one of Britains many stars who do not have to worry about the bills, his sponsors have been taking care of everything, to the smallest thing like his daily dose of eggs.
The 29-year-old, deposits his money in the bank, only spending on some treats for his family, not even for himself.
Freddie Cunningham, AJ’s right-hand man and marketing manager spoke to Business Insider and said, “From the outside, it probably looks like he does. He’s seen in private jets, wearing expensive watches, and driving around in nice cars. But the Jets are all sponsored. We’ve never paid for a private jet, or a helicopter, in our life. He gets a signature car from Land Rover.”
“He’s not spending that money. He’s accumulating money. He’s living a lifestyle that probably everyone wants him to live, or see him live, but he’s doing it in a smart way. Tactful.”
Having 12 endorsements under his belt currently, the boxer takes in around £5 million per year, with deals ranging from clothing, electronics, and cars that get him the money when he isn’t throwing knocks in the ring.
AJ is sponsored by US sportswear brand Under Armour, which provides him with a lavish private jet for his travels, in addition to the seven-figure salary he earns. AJ said, “These type of things aren’t ordinary, in my daily life and in many other people’s daily lives, so it’s a blessing.”
As a 17-year-old, AJ’s first car was a Vauxhall Astra, but now the world champion rolls in his choice of hot-wheels, being in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover. AJ has a customized white Jaguar XJR, worth £93,000.
When he isn’t sparring, the UK boxer enjoys his holidays with his family and friends and his Instagram feed is proof. Most of these trips are sponsored by countries and resorts who look for the privilege of having a global icon spotted in their lavish abodes.
Anthony is known to have his roots firm in his humble upbringing, even after he has gifted a £350,000 watch, worth more than an average house in the UK, thanks to his partnership with luxury jewellers Audemars Piguet.
AJ doesn’t have to spend on his gymming and training too. With his associations with gym brands, diet foods, and concerts all paying for his bills.
Earning a bomb is one thing, but not needing to spend them is a luxury only to select sporting icons to enjoy.
