We live in a world where people are often lost and battle many issues all alone. Some of us look for the inspirations we need to rise up again and more often than not, these moments come from some of the worlds greatest sports personalities.
One such fan is Karl Jones, who was struggling with mental health when he took inspiration from boxing superstar Tyson Fury’s return bout against Deontay Wilder. Karl, 32, said the match inspired him to turn to boxing which helped him cope with his issues and personal problems.
It is only when we come out and look for the inspiration we need that we turn out stronger than we think we are. In this case, Karl found his inspiration, got back out there and fought.
In a touching gesture from the ‘Gypsy King’, Fury took out time to send a personal video message to Karl after he learned about how his match inspired the troubled man.
The 30-year-old decorated boxer recorded a video message from his car and said, “I just want to wish Karl all the best for his fight tonight.
“I read his story, I know he was about to commit suicide and he was inspired by my story.
“Quite the turnaround Karl, to be back boxing and helping mental health. Congratulations buddy, you’re doing a fantastic job.
“Anybody can come back like I have proved and like you have proved. Good luck in your fight mate, continue to keep battling forward.”
Karl saw the video before entering the ring for his fight with Fury’s entrance music for some additional motivation.
After his match, Karl was so touched. He said, “I was so chuffed to get a personal video message from Tyson before my bout.
“I couldn’t believe that he’d heard about me and then took the time out to send it over.
“I’ve watched it so many times but still can’t believe he did that for me. He’s been a huge inspiration for me having come through so much and to then get back in the ring.”
Every day we encounter something magical, be it in sports or otherwise. If you ever have something that pulls you down, please know that you are not alone. Reach out and we are sure that someone will inspire you.
