Going through David Warner’s Instagram account, it won’t be too long before you start falling in love with two people. No, I’m not talking about the adorable couple that is David and his wife, Candice but his two little daughters, Ivy Mae and Indi Rae. If David had to look back on his career today, being his birthday, it’s no shame in admitting that it’s all down to one person, and that’s not himself.
Since getting married in April 2015, David Warner’s life has had a turn-around. Getting involved in a controversial bar fight with Joe Root during the Ashes before that, everything that David Warner stood for, had turned its back on. But giving up alcohol, gave David Warner a new life.
But since his two daughters have come in the picture, David went from being a disgraced cricketer to one of the most matured players in the Australian circuit. Getting vice-captaincy post that is also testimony to the fact that David has been willing to put in the long hours and efforts to get his image cleaned up. But what kept him going, always, was his wife, or so as to say what he called on Instagram, his rock, Candice Falzon. Being a fitness freak herself, she helped David Warner too put his fitness levels and gave him the right balance.
The two met in the most extraordinary manner. Meet as in virtually. During the Ashes debacle in 2013, David received a message on Twitter, with a fan saying, “Just letting you know I am thinking of you and I know how hard it can be being away from home.” And from there on, they started Skyping and the rest, as they say, is history.
While baby number one, Ivy Mae arrived shortly in 2014, the second one, Indi Rae was born on January 2016. Not only has Candice has managed to help put David on his feet, he’s also given them two angels to live and die for. While both of them do not stop from publicly expressing their deep love and desire for each other, we can only be happy with the fact that a talent like David Warner has gone from being on the brink of destruction to a role model for Australia and cricket-fans worldwide.
