The cash rich cricket league, Indian Premier League will kick off in April this year. While the glamorous league is set to commence in April, the auction will take place in first week of February. IPL 10 Auction is expected to start at 9:30 AM and will continue till 6:00 PM. The venue though is not confirmed yet.
Some of the maestros of the shorter format were released by their respective franchises while some can make a cut in this season as the most expensive bids. Here is the list of players who can attract bidders in this edition.
Kevin Pietersen who has been a part of Deccan Chargers, Delhi Daredevils, Rising Pune Supergiants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Surisers Hyderabad in previous IPL seasons would be another vital pick for any franchise team. The right-hand England batsman has the ability to accelerate the innings at any given point. A total of just over 1000 runs in 36 appearances he has scored so far in IPL including a 100 is evident of Pietersen’s batting ability.
As suggested by Virat Kohli, another English player Ben Stokes can be a massive pick in this edition of Indian Premier League. Stokes is known for his swashbuckling batting calibre and medium-pace bowling that can make the batsmen work hard for their runs. Virat Kohli who leads RCB in IPL said, “He’s (Stokes) a guy with great character, he is always fighting to win games for England. We have seen that from him in Test cricket and today he was really motivated to win the game for them,”.
An aggressive combination of Virat Kohli and Ben Stokes in one team can create a lot of pressure in the opponent camp.
England opener Jason Roy is another batsman who can prove a decent buy for the franchise who picks him. Roy’s game play would be a helpful one to push the paddle and increase the scoring rate.
England’s fast bowler Tymal Mills has made a mark in the international circuit with his aesthetic pace. The left-hand quick-bowler Mills bowls at ferocious pace of over 140kmph quite consistently. Apart from quick-pace, Mills can also bowl some effective slower ones which were evident in his first T20I match against India in Kanpur.
