For over a decade now, we have seen Richard Madley with a hammer in his hand, go about his business seamlessly during the highly-anticipated IPL auctions. His work during the actions drew great praise and he gained a great amount of fan following in India, going on to become a household name.
Unfortunately for fans of Madley, after 10 years he will not be seen during the auctions as he has been replaced by Britains Hugh Edmeades. No explanation was given for why Madley was replaced but fans were left in shock when he announced on Twitter that he won’t be a part of the 2019 auctions which are taking place in Jaipur.
Sorry not to be conducting #IPL2019 auction .
It’s been an honour and a privilege to have been part of #IPL from the start.
Will miss my many friends and followers in #India and beyond.
Thank you ? for the welcome you have always shown .

Madley later claimed that he was dropped by the BCCI for the auctions.
Thank you ? for your kind wishes following the news that I am to be replaced as the #IPL auctioneer.

Fans of the IPL need not need to worry though, as his replacement Hugh Edmeades is quite experienced when it comes to conducting the proceedings during an auction.
Edmeades has been an auctioneer for over 30 years, starting out in 1984. He is an independent charity, fine arts and classic cars, auctioneer. In his long career, he has conducted over 2,300 auctions, so the proceedings during the event in Jaipur will undoubtedly be in fine hands.
The IPL also released a video on their Twitter account, introducing the fans to the new man who will be in charge of the auctions.

Though an unfamiliar face for many, Edmeades – hopefully with his performance – can hit it out of the park for a massive six!
