Sri Lanka found them in a crux situation on the first day of the first Test match against Australia as the Kangaroos bowled them out for a paltry 117 in just 34.2 overs. It was a horrific start for the Lankans as they saw their top five batsmen returning to the pavilion, just two hours in to the play.
Post the lunch session, things got worse as Australia picked 4 quick wickets. The pace and spin combination of Australia worked in tandem to bring the Sri Lankan batting downfall. Both the pacers and spinners picked 5 wickets each. While Mitchell Starc scalped 2 wickets, Josh Hazlewood picked 3. Same was the wicket-sharing ratio between spinners with Steve O’Keefe taking 3 and Nathon Lyon taking 2.
It would be interesting to see how Australians deal with the pitch, which is already making some noise.
The Test match, however, already has some interesting number s to look at. Have a look at all of them.
