Sunrisers Hyderabad are the defending champions heading into the 2017 edition of the IPL. Under the inspirational leadership of Australian dynamo David Warner, Hyderabad surprised one and all and walked away with the IPL trophy in 2016. They will look at the 2017 edition of the IPL auctions as an opportunity to build upon their success.
The defending champion have retained 22 players with the list involving influential captain David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Naman Ojha, Yuvraj Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (IPL IX’s Purple Cap holder), Mustafizur Rahman and Deepak Hooda. They have 20.9 crores left to spend.
Strategy in 2017 auctions
Sunrisers Hyderabad have one of the best pace bowling attack in the league, so they are likely to look towards signing a spinner to further bolster their bowling attack, They also let go of Trent Boult and are likely search for a replacement. They might take a bet on English pace sensation Tymal Mills, who might be available on the cheap and will also be a very shrewd signing.
They also have let go of Eoin Morgan, the England captain and will miss his experience in the middle order. They will look towards filling that gaping hole in their squad.
Surisers Hyderabad might also pull out a clever trick of going after Alex Hales or Jason Roy, which will give them arguably the most devastating opening pair in the IPL, if any of them combine with David Warner.
Hyderabad already have a unit which has tasted the highest of the highs and with a bit of freshening up in the squad, will look forward to repeat their feats of the previous season.
