One of the oldest players in the Indian Premier League history, Pravin Tambe made a cut into the Rajasthan Royals team when Rahul Dravid judged the leggie’s ability with the ball while facing him in the nets. It was though, late for the man to get into the RR franchise but he did make it count.
During the 2014 edition of the IPL, Tambe went through Kolkata Knight Riders’ batting line up and romped over the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team.
Chasing a formidable total of 171 runs, KKR were looking in control when Uthappa and Gambhir were out in the middle and out up a stand of 121 runs for the first wicket. Gambhir though was undone by Shane Watson but the real drama took place when Tambe was thrown the ball at himself.
Without wasting much time, Pravin Tambe chipped in with good bowling performance and was soon seen getting the rough patch. He first sent Manish Pandey back of a wide delivery in the hut when Sanju Samson dislodged the wood work behind him while dismissed Yusuf Pathan and Ryan ten Doeschate on consecutive deliveries, one going back for a caught and bold while other trapped in front of the stumps respectively. He thus became the second bowler to bag a hat trick in two balls in the history of the game.
Rajasthan Royals won by 10 runs in that match.
