Pakistan cricketers haven’t been able to become regular customers of the Indian Premier League due to the political issues that raised after the first edition. But still the Pakistan players have been able to leave a mark of excellence in the cash-rich league.
One of the performances came from Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir who bagged a total of 6 wickets in a match against Chennai Super Kings while playing for Rajasthan Royals. Sending the openers packing in the first over for individual ducks, Tanvir gave RR a perfect start.
The tale didn’t really stop here as CSK were soon reduced to 11/3. Albie Morkel looked to show some mettle but he too was cleaned up by Tanvir in the later part of the innnings. Riding on the left-arm bowler’s brilliant spell Rajasthan Royals wrapped up Chennai Super Kings for a total of 109. Tanvir grabbed a figures of 14/6 in his 4 overs.
In reply, Smith and Asnodkar had a perfect beginning to the proceedings. The two scored 78 for the first wicket before Asnodkar was out for 32. Yusuf Pathan didn’t spend much time on the crease and was sent back for 8. Shane Watson though remained unbeaten with Smith to win the match by 8 wickets.
